Re: Dave's Picks #4 |
Any way you slice it this is a great pick. Dave has impressed the hell outta me so far. This one has one of the finest second sets of the year. Fall '76 is freakin' great, and this comes a close second to my beloved 10/01. Good job Dave, really diggin' your picks.
This aud aint half bad by the way. Grab this one while you can.

Re: Dave's Picks #4 |
"Like" tho no prob, it will always be at bt.etree :)
A MTX would be nice, but I think thats where the 'tree makes a stand, no Commercial/Aud MTX. that said, I'll run it by Jubal

Re: Dave's Picks #4 |
This aud is quite good. Good instrument separation. Vocals and instruments all very clear sounding, and the recording packs a nice punch too. Perfect level of ambient crowd noise too.

Re: Dave's Picks #4 |
Agreed, the AUD is very good. Hopefully one of you maestros will put together a nice matrix using the new source.
I'm definitely in favor of new releases that actually release new material! Especially from fall '76. Nice pick, Dave!

Well that's kind of exciting. Thanks for the heads-up, DeadATL.
EDIT: ...though the Playing > Supplication > Playing sequence is already out here:

Re: Dave's Picks #4 |
Good spot ("Spirit of '76").
Also, DP#4 is 24th (as above) and not 25th as previously reported (sorry to be piccy). 25th is here, if you want it.

It's 9/24/76. I saw the 9/25/76 "Listening Party" link and indicated that date in my original post.

How many Deadheads does it take to get a single date correct?

Re: Dave's Picks #4 |
Stunning that they went back to '76 after the last Road Trips, released about a year ago, was also from '76 and rhino's first GD release was a '76 show. Well better than some other years imo.

Re: Dave's Picks #4 |
I was proven totally wrong ! I didn't think they would put out another 70's show, especially not another Keith show ! But hey I'm happy ! I love the Keith era, and I love 76 .

Anybody know the story on where this emerged from? Wondering if someone finally sucked it up and bought that trunk load of tapes from the storage locker.

Re: Dave's Picks #4 |
They somehow managed to release Playing > Supplication > Playing on a Live at the Cow Palace bonus disc way back in 2007, so I'm not sure it was really a recent discovery. But marketing is a many splendid thing.

Re: Dave's Picks #4 |
Yeah except in the case of squandering it on limited releases, which I think is the dumbest thing I have ever witnessed. Expecting your ENTIRE potential audience to be there cash in hand at or near the time of release is about as near sighted as a grandma behind a microscope.
So, you take the stuff that circulates off the Archive & limit the release. How does this match up with the fundamental principal of the music and it being available to all? Then it also limits the revenue going back to the aging masters who gave us so much enjoyment over time.
Madness I tell you. Madness!
